To honor and promote exemplary behavior of their students
the classroom teachers in grades 4 and 5 identify Students of the Month. These teachers
select up to 2 students per class (depending on class size) for Student
of the Month recognition during the months of September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April and May.

for Students of the Month. This group outing varies from year to year. |

A. Students receiving 100% on a weekly math summary quiz for multiplication or division will receive a
MONSTOR COOKIE or SKITTLES and two pictures holding the prize. One of the pictures will be

posted on the student’s locker door in the classroom and the other is to take home.
B. Students, upon receiving every 4th 100% on a weekly spelling test will receive the same prizes as above.
C. Students awarded prizes in A or B above have their photo character entered in the monthly hallway
academic performance recognition display.
D. Students receiving prizes in A. and B. above are awarded Accelerated Reader Auction points to be converted
to AR Dollars for the end of school auction.
AR auction item pictures are displayed on a giant poster in the hallway throughout the year when they are purchased.
(AR points received from the AR computer quizzes following book readings are also converted to AR Dollars for that auction.)

Students demonstrating good classroom behavior are immediately given tickets on which they write their names and place in “Treasure Chest”
drawing container. Each Friday four tickets are drawn by previous week’s winners awarding students a “trip to the Treasure Chest”. Inexpensive items
of a various nature are placed in a large lockable chest from which the students get an opportunity to choose. Items of most interest to the students
get restocked. Items of interest seem to vary from year to year.
