Dear Families of Waitsburg School District;

Earlier today, Governor Jay Inslee announced that all Washington State Schools would be closed.  To quote from his press conference:

The COVID-19 outbreak is evolving quickly. We are not waiting to take the measures needed to contain it.  Today, I am expanding my school closure order to all K-12 schools statewide.

Waitsburg School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, April 24th.  At this time, we expect to return to school on Monday, April 27th.  However, we acknowledge that this is a concerning situation and that this date may change as more information becomes available.  Student health and safety remains one of our top priorities.

This time off will not be like winter break, or spring break, as the school will still be providing some services in regards to students.  Specifics of which are still being worked out.

We will have school on Monday, March 16th.  On Monday, your student will be sent home with a packet of work to do during the school closure.  We will be working with staff to communicate to families to resupply, grade, and continue to provide for the education of each student during the school closure.

Lastly, please make sure your contact information, specifically phone and email address is updated for your student, and on file with the office.  We need a clear line of communication with each family during this extended period of school closure.

Thank you for all of your support.
