A Message from the WIAA. I hope all of our students and families are navigating the current stay at home orders and taking the precautions necessary to keep everyone healthy. We have been in a holding pattern since March 16th as to what the status of our athletic programs would be for this year. The WIAA has had several options for member schools to consider and were ready to implement them as soon as possible. It is with a heavy heart that a decision has been made to cancel all sport seasons and tournaments for the remainder of the current school year. The message from the WIAA is as follows. " The WIAA has received clarification that the order issued by Governor Inslee on Monday includes the cancellation of all in-person extracurricular athletics and activities through the end of the school year. This will include all regular season contests and practices as well as all postseason tournaments and championship events. The decision was undoubtedly a difficult one for Governor Inslee. However, it was done so to keep the students and families of Washington safe. The WIAA Executive Board and the WIAA Staff feel for those students around the state that have had their seasons or careers cut short. This terrible disease has not only prevented students from creating lifelong memories through competition, it has limited the valuable lessons gained through participation in education-based athletics and activities." - Mick Hoffman WIAA Executive Director.

The excitement for the D-W Spring sports season was encouraging with students preparing for their first contest s and participation numbers up. To know our students will not have the positive experiences, memories and opportunities to participate in a sport this spring is difficult. This is especially true for our seniors. Many of our senior athletes have played 3 sports a year and participated all 4 years in some programs. To not have the opportunity to finish out their senior year after dedicating themselves for 4 years is heartbreaking. Thank-you seniors for your commitment, leadership and representing D-W in a positive manner for 4 years. We would also like to thank the families and fans of our student athletes for your support and encouragement. Thank-you to all of our coaches and their tireless efforts to prepare our athletes, mentor them and give them life skills. Should updates be made or changes made we will let you know promptly. Take care and stay well.
