Secondary student led conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, November 5th. Information will be sent home this week.

We are very excited for our students to return to in-person learning. Please be extra careful in the mornings as you are driving around town or on your way to work as we will have students walking/riding bikes to school starting Monday, October 5th.

Reminder that beginning Monday, October 5th, Waitsburg School District will return to an in-person hybrid model of learning. School begins at 8:30 am. Doors will open at 8:00 am for breakfast. Each student will be screened at the door before heading off to breakfast. If your student chooses not to have breakfast please arrive at 8:15 am to be screened and go straight to the classroom.

Beginning on Monday, October 5th, Waitsburg School District will be shifting from distance learning to a hybrid model. We will be returning to campus for in-person learning!!

This is a challenging year for all school districts. We have decided it is in the best interest of both school districts to not allow any new choice requests this year from each other. Parents can still choose to apply for choice transfers into other districts if they desire, but not between Waitsburg and Dayton. If a Waitsburg family attended Dayton last year they can continue in Dayton this year. If a Dayton family attended Waitsburg last year, they can continue in Waitsburg this year. Due to additional funding by USDA, Waitsburg School District will now offer free meals to ALL community children under the age of 18. Please contact Susan Wildey to sign up or to add additional meals to your current delivery. swildey@waitsbursd.org OR (509) 337-6461 ext. 1312 Please note, meals will be delivered between 8am and 10am.

Reminder: Starting September 8th, WSD Nutritional Services will begin making home deliveries of meals. Drivers will be making the meal deliveries Monday through Thursday coinciding with our 2020-21 school calendar. Thursday deliveries will have two days worth of meals; one set for Thursday and one set for Friday. There are no deliveries on Fridays. If you would like to sign up to have meals delivered please visit our "News" feed, click on "WSD Meal Delivery Update", fill out the consent form, and return it to Susan Wildey at swildey@waitsburgsd.org. Please turn in your consent form by Sept. 1st.

Attention parents/ guardians of Pre-K - 5th grade students: Waitsburg Elementary will be starting the school year with a "soft start". This means the first week of school (Sept. 8th-11th) teachers will be conducting parent/ teacher/ student conferences to go over class schedules, expectations, and distribute supplies. These conferences will be scheduled through Class Tag, our parent communication platform. You should be receiving an email no later than Monday, August 31st with your personal login info to set up these conferences. Please make sure your student is registered so we have the correct email info on file. Registration continues today and tomorrow from 9:00-11:00 and 1:00-3:00 in the MPR. We appreciate your patience through these challenging times.

Reminder: Preschool-5th Grade registration will be next Tuesday-Thursday 9:00-11:00 and 1:00-3:00 in the MPR. If you pre-registered last Spring you do not need to attend. If you are unsure if you pre-registered your student please call the office at 509-337-6461.

High School Registration will begin next Tuesday. Letters to returning students and their families were mailed home that included appointment dates and times. See the news section for more detailed information.

Waitsburg School District is hosting two virtual community forums on June 30 and July 8 to facilitate discussions and hear suggestions about school format and what are the public’s biggest concerns for school in the fall. We are planning for what returning to school in September will look like for students and staff. Current guidance from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction(OSPI) gives us parameters to work within, and it is critical to hear from families on their thoughts and feelings about reopening schools. The two sessions are identical, so you only need to attend one. You can register for the virtual session on our website, www.waitsburgsd.org. Also, we will be gathering feedback in more detailed family and staff surveys June 29 – July 3, which will be specific to student grade level and will further help guide planning for safely reopening schools in the age of COVID-19. Feedback is very important to help ensure students and staff have healthy learning and working environments. Waitsburg SD highly encourages participation in the survey, which will be sent to family and staff emails and be posted to the district website. We really value the input of our students, families and staff, and hope to receive a lot of feedback on how everyone is thinking about school in the fall.

We are working to develop a reopening plan for the fall. While there are many details that need to be ironed out, we invite parents/guardians to provide initial feedback via short survey. More information and link to survey in News section of district website.
