During a press conference today (March 25), Governor Inslee announced a new order that allows schools to reduce physical distancing to 3’ between students in classrooms effective immediately. The order comes following updated guidance from the Washington State Department of Health, which supports the CDC’s recommendation for the reduction of physical distancing from 6’ to 3’.

Waitsburg School District will be moving forward with ongoing planning efforts, with the goal to return all Waitsburg students K-12 to in-person learning by mid- to late-April. We will send an update with a specific timeline to families no later than April 2nd (prior to spring break).

Our staff and administrators have been in discussions over the last few weeks regarding logistics of a possible return to learning at reduced physical distancing after the CDC’s update and research from Massachusetts schools. The health and safety of staff and students remains our driving factor. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Superintendent Mark Pickel at 509-337-6301.
