Back to school in-person April 19th

Waitsburg School District is excited to welcome back all students K-12 to full-time in-person learning each day, Monday-Friday, beginning Monday, April 19.

The decision was made unanimously by the School Board following the March 25th order from Washington Governor Inslee and updated guidance from Washington Department of Health. The new DOH guidelines reduce the physical distancing requirement for students from six feet to three feet, citing recent recommendations from the CDC released this month.

Since October 5, 2020, Waitsburg students have been attending school in-person following a hybrid schedule, with Group A students attending full days on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Group B students attending school on Thursdays and Fridays. Beginning on Monday, April 19th, students in all grade levels K-12 will attend school in-person each day, starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 3:00 PM.

As students return full-time, they will notice some modifications. These may include changes to the time and spacing of class transitions, seating on buses, classroom arrangements, food service, and lunch schedules. We ask for your patience, flexibility, and cooperation as we adjust and work to create space.

All schools will continue to follow the required health and safety protocols, including wearing face coverings, daily screenings, and thorough cleaning. Staff responsible for cleaning and sanitizing buildings and buses are preparing for the increased number of students.

Important Notes:

  • Beginning April 19, Waitsburg will no longer be operating on a hybrid schedule.
  • Any families of students currently attending school following the hybrid model may choose to switch to 100% online if they are not comfortable with the new three-foot physical distancing. However, the student must be academically successful to be allowed to switch to online.
