Waitsburg 5th-6th grade sign up by Jan. 27th

Attention Parents/Guardians of 5th and 6th Grade students:

Sign Up by January 27th!

We are excited to partner with Ski Bluewood (formally known as Bluewood Ski Hill) to offer your student the opportunity to experience skiing or snowboarding.  This year our 5th and 6th grade students will travel as a group to Ski Bluewood four different times each date is on a Wednesday.

Ski Bluewood Dates:

  • February 2
  • February 9
  • February 16
  • February 23

Students may use their own equipment, or they may choose to rent equipment.   Lessons are available however; they are not required.

Prices are as follows:

  • 4 week lift, rent and lesson for skiing or snowboarding - $128
  • 4 week lift and lesson for skiing or snowboarding - $104
  • 4 week lift and rental for skiing or snowboarding - $80
  • 4 week lift only - $68

Please note that grant funds are available which may reduce the pricing.  We encourage all of our 5th and 6th grade students to attend and enjoy Ski Bluewood, as funding for students to attend is available if needed and should not be a deterrent to student participation.

If you are interested in having your student participate, please follow these steps by January 27:

Step One:

Parents please register your student online. This is an important first step required by Ski Bluewood.  Your student must be registered online or they may not attend.  Students must be registered online by January 27

To register, follow these steps:

  • Go to https://bluewood.whitepeakstec...
  • Click on an orange tab that says "Group Registration."
  • This will prompt you to enter a "Group Code"
  • Your group code is: Waitsburg Middle 2021-22

Step Two:

If your student would like to rent equipment, a Ski Bluewood HUB representative will meet with your student at school to fit your student with proper equipment prior to February .

Step Three:

Please make sure your student arrives each ski day with proper clothing for a day of skiing:  gloves, hat, snow pants, coat, socks, etc.  Please contact the school if your student does not have proper ski clothing and we will network with staff and community to ensure that all of our students are ready for a day of snow fun!

Lunch will be provided by Waitsburg School District each day.  If your student does not want to have a school lunch they may bring their own lunch.  Please do not plan on Ski Bluewood snack/cafeteria items as we cannot confirm that they will be providing service that day; however, if they do have service on our ski days students may purchase items.

The bus will depart Waitsburg for the ski hill each ski day at 8:00 a.m.

The bus will return to Waitsburg at approximately 5:00 p.m. each day. Please note that this is an approximate time and students will be encouraged to contact parents for pickup when we reach a cell service location to determine more exact arrival time(s).

If your student does not wish to participate, we are asking that they remain at home as an excused absence.  Our staff will not be available to supervise your student on campus as they will be at Bluewood supervising and assisting students.  If your child chooses to stay home on these dates, please contact the school each ski day to let us know.  We want to make sure all of our students are safely accounted for.

Middle School Basketball Girls – please note that you have scheduled basketball games on the ski dates.  We will have a staff member driving a school district vehicle at Bluewood on the ski dates.  They will plan to depart Bluewood with 6th grade basketball players at 2:00 p.m. each day so that athletes can attend their games.  All games scheduled on ski dates are located at Waitsburg and begin at 4:00 p.m.

We will have several Waitsburg School District staff at each ski day to supervise and assist students; however, Ski Bluewood is a large area (to include the lodge) and we would be grateful for any parent volunteer!  If you are interested in being a parent volunteer please call Waitsburg Schools at 509-337-6301 and provide your information.  A staff member will contact you to confirm your availability.
