With the dissolution of the Dayton-Waitsburg combine, an agreement has been reached with both school districts and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) that any high school student wishing to transfer to their non-resident school district will have through Friday, June 23 to do so and maintain eligibility for sports.  Here are a few things to consider:

  • For the purposes of athletic eligibility and in this specific case, "transfer" will be defined as having withdrawn from the current school and having submitted all necessary paperwork to the new school.
  • Any student withdrawing from their current school and/or submitting the complete transfer paperwork to the new school after June 23 will be subject to the normal WIAA regulations for transfer eligibility.
  • This applies only to transfers between Dayton and Waitsburg.  If your student chooses to transfer to any other school district, they will be subject to the normal WIAA regulations for transfer eligibility.
  • Current 8th graders wishing to attend the high school outside of their resident school district will be exempt from this requirement, as there is already an established transfer window during the transition from middle school to high school.
